'And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in the manger.' (NKJV)
1 John 3:1 (NKJV)
'Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called children of God!'
Family. Like it or loathe it, many of us will be spending time with our family today. My daughter and her husband recently had their first baby, a beautiful little girl, and this will be their first Christmas as a new family. For some of us, who have little of no family, this day can be a lonely time, and for those who's relationships are sometimes painful it can be extremely difficult.
The GOOD NEWS of Jesus' birth today is that he is a REDEEMER! This means to 'buy back'...We have just 'redeemed' our car, which was judged a write-off, hopefully with the intention of getting it repaired. But Jesus can do this with all aspects of our lives. He can redeem broken relationships, redeem our souls from past hurts and save us from our own negative thought patterns. He's amazing.
I'll leave you, this Christmas with two links: one to a beautiful song by Melody Green, sung by her husband Keith, and the other an improvised version of it by our group, 'Epiphany':
