Although our most important question is about how we should be living, our heavenly Father doesn't want us to be ignorant about what's going to happen, which is why there is so much written in the Bible, in both the old and new Testaments about what is called 'the last days'.
Jesus said, as recorded above, that when things do take place, (eg; see Matthew's gospel, ch 24), we are not to be afraid. He has told us all this in advance so that our faith in him will not be shaken , but instead, become stronger.
I like this rendering of Romans chapter 13:12 in the Message version:
'The night is about over, dawn is about to break.
Be up and awake to what God is doing!'
